A fun day for everyone – Including the dog!

On Sunday 5th July, Girlguiding Greater Manchester West held their Fun Dog Show and Summer Fair at Worthington Park, Sale, in aid of the Ashley Building Fund. Hundreds of members of guiding and local residents came to the park to enter their dogs into fun classes such as Best Puppy, Loveliest Eyes, Waggiest Tail, a Retrieve the Sausage Competition and the all important, Best in Show.

Actor Will Mellor officially opened the event, posing for photographs and signing autographs for the girls and spectators. With stalls selling cakes, raffle tickets and local crafts, and massive inflatable slides and trampolines, there was something for everyone, including a PDSA PetCheck vehicle, where dogs could get a free health MOT.

‘The show has been a wonderful event,’ said Sue Lomas, the Chief Commissioner for Guiding in the Northwest, ‘we’ve been fortunate to have had a great turn out, fantastic weather and a great support team to hold an event that has really captured everyone’s imagination!’

The show and fair were a great success, raising over £3000 for the Ashley Building Fund, which will provide a new dry shelter and overnight accommodation at the Guiding County’s campsite.
