As part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), the largest women's organisation in the world, Girlguiding Greater Manchester West offers incredible opportunities for young women to travel abroad, experience new cultures and make international friends.
In the past, girls from Greater Manchester West have travelled to France, Switzerland, Morocco, Thailand, Laos, Chile, Australia, Kenya and Madagascar, along with many more exciting destinations.
Our international trips and international programme encourage girls and young women to expand their view of the world and give them the opportunity to learn about other cultures and traditions.
Adult leaders also have the opportunity to apply to be a leader on a Region trip. Details will be posted on the Girlguiding North West England website as they become available.
Travelling Abroad Training
If you are interested in, or considering, travelling with Brownies, Guides or Senior Section members then this is a training you won’t want to miss!
Please see the flyer on the Region Website for more information.
Taking members abroad
There are a number of international camps which take place every year in the UK and abroad. To take Brownies, Guides or Senior Section members abroad you must have your leadership qualification, the relevant camp or holiday license for your section and module 14 – travelling abroad. You can achieve the international module during the trip. For help or advice please contact the County international adviser: Becky Patten for more details and support.
Guides and The Senior Section
Whether you are interested in seeing the sites, learning about other cultures or making the world a better place, dozens of international opportunities are available to Guides and Senior Section members.
Girlguiding North West England run a number of trips each year for members from all over the North West. Potential participants are usually nominated by each County within the Region. These trips have more of a focus on community action and development. Previous trips have included places such as Morocco, Japan and Madagascar.
