Grand Day Out
On Saturday 8th October 232 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section from Greater Manchester West joined 8,500 members from across the region at Blackpool to celebrate Girlguiding North West’s 40th Anniversary.
7th Walkden Rainbows were amongst the units there and they thoroughly enjoyed the activity-packed day, even managing to fit in a couple of enrolments, including one on the Pepsi Max Big One! The Rainbows and their Leaders rehearsed for Girlguiding North West's world record attempt for the largest Cha Cha slide in a dance workshop before venturing onto the rides in Nickelodeon Land and going to watch the Ice Show, which was ‘amazing.’ It was pizza all round for tea before heading home via the Golden Mile and illuminations.
Vicky, the District Commissioner for Walkden West said ‘our thanks go to Tyrers coaches, staff at pizza hut, all from region who organised the day and the leaders for taking the girls. Members of the public commented throughout the day on the Rainbow’s excellent behaviour proving that Girlguiding is something to be proud of’.
