Details of places to take girls as recommended by other Guiders

Rainbows

A Rainbow Leader took her Rainbows to Pets at Home, they made them feel very welcome and all sat on bean bags.  The staff brought out all different kinds of animals for them to see and they were able to hold them.  They were given lots of work books and stickers and were able to feed the animals at the end of the session.  This took up the whole Rainbow session and was at the retail park in Davyhulme near the Trafford Centre.

HobbyCraft in Altrincham offer FREE craft workshops and are great at making sure the day and time is the same as your own unit meeting. A member of staff is there throughout to help the girls with the craft that's on offer (this example offered fabric painting of cotton bags) and they get to take the item created home with them at the end. To book a space, email Liz at altrincham@hobbycraft.co.uk

Brownies & Guides

Sugarbrook Farm from Ashley – took a good half day and no transport or expense incurred.

Ice skating at Altrincham – they will do a deal if you ask, so not too expensive.  Best for Guides and older.

Manchester climbing wall – if you get off the tram at Victoria you can walk there, girls started on the low wall before doing roped high wall, again an ok deal if you ask.

Guides

Kayaking and canoeing at Salford watersports Centre at Salford Quays.  The manager is the Region Outdoor Activities Adviser so you know all the Girlguiding criteria are met.

Snow zipper sledge activity at the Chill Factor – girls really enjoyed it although it was very expensive - £15 per girl for 45 minutes.
