Thank you to Joyce from Monton Guides

2nd Monton Guides planned a lovely party for Joyce Checkley who retired from the unit at half term.

They decided they would like to make a meal for her and her husband Tony, to say thank you. Tony was in on the secret, but Joyce didn’t know what was planned until the morning of the party!

She has been leader at 2nd Monton Guides since 2007 but has also worked with Monton District Rainbows since 1993 when she started as a Unit helper. Many people at St Paul’s in Monton also know Joyce for all her work with the Playgroup  - she is a well loved and familiar figure in the community.

The girls planned, designed and cooked a mouthwatering menu which consisted of Pate on toast, Trefoil pizza and dessert was Eton mess.

After the meal, the girls provided some light entertainment including dancing, singing and playing musical instruments (penny whistle, violin, flute, guitar). I think everyone was surprised about the level of talent within the unit!
