Adult Bike Ride

Girlguiding offers exciting and adventurous opportunities for girls; however, did you know that it also provides a stepping stone to meet new people and develop your skills as an adult volunteer too?

Girlguiding GMW’s Outdoor Activities Team has created an Outdoor Challenge for all our members, including adults, to encourage adventures, have fun outdoors and to try something new. Two clauses that were completed last weekend were “Go for a 5k bike ride” and “Picnic in an unusual place”.

Adult members joined our Outdoors Activities Adviser, Mavis Waters, on a 5km bike ride along the Trans Pennine Trail. The weather conditions were perfect and it proved to be a great day for a cycle ride and picnic. The route catered for everyone, with a variety of terrain, including woodland, open countryside and a cycleway along the banks of the River Mersey.

At the halfway point, the group took a well earned rest at Stretford Cemetery and had a picnic in an unusual place - a great day was had by all!

In March, Mavis has organised an adult pony trekking session for beginners; for more information and to book a place, please click here and log into the members’ area of our website. One volunteer who has already signed up has not ridden a horse in over 20 years and is excited that Girlguiding is providing her with the opportunity to have a go and renew her interest!
