Community Action – Operation Christmas Child1st Sale Moor Rangers have taken part in Operation Christmas Child previously; this year, they took the responsibility and decided to organise it themselves! They researched the process through the information leaflets and arranged a date for the gift packing party, asking the group to bring toys and gifts for children aged 2-16, shoe boxes and wrapping paper to turn them into parcels. They then spent their Ranger meeting allocating the toys and following the guidelines set by the organisation on ‘How to Pack a Shoebox’. The difficult part was wrapping the boxes! But the girls loved filling them with gifts for the children. Molly Field and Rowena O'Donnell, both 16, said "These boxes are for a great cause and those less fortunate. We can track the gifts and find out where in the World they end up - so we will be doing that! Last time they ended up in Eastern Europe somewhere. We've seen videos of the children opening the boxes and it's sad, but really nice to see that we've helped." Some of the Rangers focused on boxes for younger boys - they can be difficult to buy for!
