1st and 2nd Sale Moor Rainbows go on a Bear Hunt!
Jackie Heaton, Leader, explains how the Rainbows incorporated a trip into the theme of their unit meeting.
Our theme for the term at Rainbows was children's books, so we decided to take the girls to our local theatre at Sale Waterside to see a puppet play based on Michael Rosen's picture book version of the old campfire chant 'We are going on a bear hunt'.
This trip proved very popular with 24 girls from the two Rainbow units, 4 Leaders, 3 Young Leaders, parent help and numerous trips to the box office!
At Rainbows, in preparation for our visit, we read the story and made bear masks to take with us.The production was excellent; the puppets were very like the illustrations in the book and their movements incredibly lifelike, especially the dog. It was great to see the girls’ faces as they were absorbed in the action.
Georgia Cowgill, 6, said “On Saturday I went with my Rainbow friends to the theatre to watch the bear hunt. It was amazing and at the end we all clapped.”
