7th Sale Moor Guides work together to run a fundraiser for ‘The Christie’

The 31 Guides and 5 leaders put on an evening of entertainment in support of their Leader, Karen, who has cancer.

The Unit decided that they wanted to give something back to The Christie, a fantastic cancer treatment centre in Withington. They settled on a fundraising evening and invited their family and friends to come along and support.

The theme for the evening was ‘appreciate the small things’ for which the girls prepared poems, cakes, sandwiches, drinks, a wall display, a raffle, and an auction. The Guides did an amazing job of running the stalls.

Rosie Hammond, aged 13, said “I was proud of our Guides working together and I now feel more confident because I was able to run an auction in front of 90 people”.

Michelle Hammond, Unit Leader said “I found the whole event truly inspiring; the way the Guides and Leaders worked so hard; the way families supported us and the strength of our Leader Karen, who has cancer”

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, the unit raised an amazing £300 in one hour!
