Celebrations at Manchester Pride
Over eighty of our members from around the North West, including representation from our County showed off their ‘guiding pride’ in the vibrant and exciting parade, which was watched by thousands of people. To fit in with this year’s festival theme; ‘fairytales’, we worked hard to create a magical parade entry and stand full of enchanting items.
Attending Manchester Pride was a chance to celebrate our diverse membership, and to show everyone that Girlguiding is for all girls! We also had a stall, where visitors had the opportunity to talk to our members about the fantastic experiences available through guiding.
Laura Heaton, from Stretford, who helped at the event said: “I had a great time representing Girlguiding at Manchester Pride. Girlguiding is all about inclusivity, and being there for all girls.”
Julie Bell, the Region Chief Commissioner said: “We had such an amazing success at Pride, it was great to showcase some of the amazing things we get up to with Girlguiding. The volunteers came from all over the North West, so it was a fantastic way to make new friends and renew old ones.”
A huge thanks to Laura Heaton, Ruth Bruckshaw, Vicki Kerr, Chloe Medford, Bella Radford & Lottie Myers and everyone who helped make Manchester Pride 2016 a great success.
