Altrincham Festival Fun!

On Saturday 1st July, the annual Altrincham Festival got underway with two entries from Girlguiding in the Grand Parade!

Timperley District Rainbows entered a 30th Birthday float with a nod to the festival's 40th anniversary and a play on the colour the Rainbows wear, by having a 'painting the town red' sub theme.

Bowdon District also entered a fantastic float with a strong 'inspirational women' theme and also a nod to the I Love Manchester Appeal.

The floats are made up on huge lorries and take a long while to decorate. Bowdon are old hands and have entered before, whereas Timperley Rainbows had never entered.. The floats were behind each other in the parade and with brownies and Guides walking too, it gave Girlguiding quite the presence.

A chorus of "Everywhere we go" was sung for the majority of the parade time and there were lots of lovely unit flags flying, bubbles blowing and balloons floating!

Timperley (as they were celebrating their 30th birthday and the festival's 40th) fired party poppers as they made their way through the village and past some of their meeting places. The Mayor obviously enjoyed their efforts because they won Best Voluntary Entry and also Supreme Entry (overall winner of the festival) for their float, receiving two trophies. Well done Timperley District Rainbows! And well done Bowdon too, everyone enjoyed themselves and feedback from parents and public alike has been fantastic!

Timperley would like to thank Gee Transport Ltd who came to their rescue with less than a week to go when they were let down by their initial contact for a lorry. Gee were incredibly accommodating and our driver, Dave was fab. Thank you very much, Gee!
